I repaired the cabinet I inherited from my great-aunt and got rid of my too-large desk that was cluttering up the living room.

The loft – well, half of it – was still a gigantic mess.

I decided I really needed to do something about my perfectly boring front yard. It never happened so far, so that’s on this year’s ToDo list.

And speaking of ToDo lists, my older daughter created this genius ToDo list, which lists the chores that need doing in the Family B&B and divides them evenly between our family members. (It does need some small revisions, BTW.)

Instead of getting started on my side walk cafe-style front yard, I took the crowbar to our fully paved back yard and ripped out pavers like there was no tomorrow and got my hands dirty building raised beds and greening things up a bit.

I also started my windowsill garden anew.

We finally got rid of that horrid mess in the loft and built two more loft rooms. And – shame on me – I never blogged about that yet. So guess what gets added to my ToBlog list?

Also, my younger daughter decided we needed to adopt this sweet kitten. He’s grown a lot since!

This month, my older daughter decided we couldn’t just adopt Ezio without also adopting his sister, so that meant two kittens would be added to our household soon.

In June our two new kittens began to really feel at home at the Family B&B.

We installed laminate flooring in my new bedroom.

And, sadly, we had to say our final goodbyes to our darling Shimi. I still miss him every day.

The back yard really came to life this month, and for the first time ever we really enjoyed spending time in our back yard.

The kittens grew well and behaved as if they’d been living with us for all of their lives already.

I reorganised the shed, which had become rather messy since I decluttered it a year earlier.

I built the firepit of my dreams in the backyard.

I made good progress on my loft bedroom. (I really need to write a blog post about that, don’t I?)

Ezio and Amelia had grown a lot, were having the time of their lives, and were becoming the best of friends with Thalia.

Then, one day, I slapped some paint on one of our Ikea step stools. Just because I could.stepstool2

Something’s happening to our bathroom. Can you guess what? (Don’t worry, I’ll write a blog post about it.)

I bought our cats a water fountain. Ezio and Amelia took to it immediately. Thalia was a little suspicious of it at first but soon came to love it, and Luna also likes it a lot.

Since the vinyl flooring on the landing had seen better days, I took it out and installed laminate flooring. It looks so much better!

We did some more work on the bathroom this month, but since I don’t want to spoil the surprise, I won’t post a picture of that here.

Meanwhile, Ezio and Amelia had grown even taller. They were becoming big kitties fast!

And enjoying yest another new toy. It’s still one of their favourites. 🙂

My new room was taking shape fast, and I got to play with my toys…

… adding a rod and shelves to my built-in wardrobe. Yes, I know. I should have finished the walls first, but I was in a hurry. Sort of.

Although this was an eventful month – or maybe because of it – I only took pictures on New Year’s Eve, which I celebrated with my girls and their friends. We had life music too.

Happy New Year!

Wow, you got a LOT done, congrats! I really don’t know how you do it with constant pain. The kitty-cats are adorable. All the best for 2015!

Thanks. I guess I’m just really good at ignoring the pain. That might not be clever, but it works for me. Now, if you think this was a lot, you should have seen what we got done in 2013…
And yes, I fully agree. The kitties are adorable. I can’t even begin to imagine a life without them.
