No craters yet

Remember when I said I wouldn’t be drilling holes in concrete walls?

I still remember, quite vividly, trying to drill a hole in a concrete wall decades ago. It wasn’t pretty, so I promised myself I’d never do that again.

Today I broke that promise.

We were planking DD-19’s wall, the hubby and I. He did the drilling and I was his assistant. The first plank went more or less okay. Then the second plank gave us some trouble. The hubby threw a hissy fit and stomped away.

I was not amused. DD-19 was not amused. In fact, I was so angry with the hubby for giving up so easily, that I decided to grab the hammer drill and try to drill a neat hole in the concrete wall. From what I’d seen, this wasn’t the kind of hard concrete wall I struggled with all those years ago. This wall was made of Ytong blocks. I figured I might actually be able to drill some nice holes.

Holy moly, was I ever glad I tried!

DD-19 and I spent the next half hour planking her wall. Then I had to leave for my dental appointment, but as soon as I was back home again, we continued our work on that wall.

We worked till supper time, and after supper we went back for a last round of planking. It must have been about a quarter past ten when we finally stopped. We got more than half of that wall done.

Tomorrow we might not be able to do much, as we’ve got some other plans. Then again, we might just change those plans in favour of more planking.

Planking is fun!
