I am angry. Not just annoyed, but really and truly angry.
I liked going to the health food shop. I honestly did. I liked that I didn’t have to listen to muzak there, and I liked being able to get most of my groceries there. But over the last few weeks I’ve been confused. I’d go to the website to check on the special offers, yet when I was at the shop, I hardly found any offers – and certainly not the ones from the website. Today we found out why – because the hubby inquired after one of the offers.
The problem is that the offers change on Wednesday. Well, that’s great, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be able to enjoy the offers just because they are pulling all the old offers off the shelves, while they haven’t even put up the new offers. I missed out on two weeks of discounted flour. I missed out on discounted traditional Dutch breakfast cake (which is one of DD-14’s favourites), I missed out on so many other offers on products that we actually buy regularly.
OK, that wouldn’t even have been my biggest gripe. I could have decided to just go shopping on any other day but Wednesday. That would have solved my problem of not being able to enjoy the offers, but… this is just unethical entrepreneurship. These offers should have been available to me – and the shop’s other customers – on Wednesday mornings as soon as the shop opened its doors. Because that’s what their website and flyer promise us.
Also, when we were shopping this morning, we found the Dutch breakfast cake still on offer. Or so we thought. At least that’s what the sign on the shelf told us. It said 15% discount. That means, even though the offer wasn’t officially valid anymore, they shopkeeper still should have sold it to us at the discounted price. That’s the law. So it’s not just unethical entrepreneurship, but also unlawful.
Now I don’t like doing business with thugs. And I can’t think of anyone who would. So from this day forward, I am not going to spend any money at that shop anymore. Even though we still bought a lot today.
Thankfully, this shop is not the only health food shop in town. Not by far. There’s plenty others.
So bye, bye, Mr Health Food Shop. Bad move! It’s not been a pleasure doing business with you. I’ll be buying my groceries somewhere else. Other than that, I won’t take any steps against you, because you’re not worth my time and energy.
But remember: Karma is a bitch.
